Frequently Asked Questions

What are the advantages of hiring an editor?

Writing is hard to do in a vacuum. We create best when we have a community to share our work, get feedback, & make it stronger as a result. Inkling Creative exists to provide the community & mentorship to help authors achieve their goals.

The other benefit is that, quite simply, our minds play tricks on us. When we are too close to something we've written, it makes it easy to miss problem areas—especially when it comes to sentence structure & grammar. An editor can help create distance between you & your work so you can truly understand what it needs.

What makes your services unique?

Inkling doesn't just slap some comments on a Google doc, email it to you, & send you a bill. It creates a relationship. Think about it as life coaching for your novel or writing goals. You will get personalized attention & feedback every step of the way.

What training & experience do you have?

Kori Frazier Morgan has worked in multiple areas of the writing & education fields for 17 years, with nearly half of that time spent teaching communications, creative writing, & composition at the college level.

She has also created educational materials for The Economist's GRE preparation course, McGraw-Hill, & Shmoop.com, as well as working as a copywriter & content specialist. Her work has appeared in numerous literary journals, most notably Shenandoah, Forge, Switchback, Blanket Sea, where she was nominated for Best of the Net 2020. She is the author of The Goodbye Love Generation: A Novel In Stories.

What previous projects have you worked on?

Inkling has provided services for authors of memoirs, poetry collections, fantasy novels, literary fiction, essays, short stories, children's books, & much more. Many of our authors have gone on to publish their books, some of which are featured in our Bookstore.

Are there any genres or subjects that you do not accept?

We reserve the right to determine whether we are the best company to work with your project.

What kinds of services do you offer?

We offer services to help writers develop their projects, improve their grammar & sentence structure, & promote their writing through independent publishing. We also offer mentorship & coaching for adults & teens who want to improve their writing skills.

How much does it cost?

Rates are determined on a per project basis according to the length, genre, & service being requested. We will explore your options in a complimentary Virtual Meetup & determine what service & rate fits your work.

How long does it typically take for you to complete a project?

It depends on the length, genre, & service. A developmental editing project, for example, requires at least two read-throughs of a manuscript and could take up to three weeks. By contrast, a service that requires only one read-through could take less time.

I have a deadline to meet. Do you do rush jobs?

No. Inkling takes great care to provide the best feedback & recommendations possible. Rushing through our work does a disservice to your writing; our goal is to give you the best possible feedback, which cannot be done overnight.

What formats do you prefer for submissions?

We are big fans of leaving marginal notes. Google Docs, .doc or .docx, & PDFs all have acceptable tools for providing these comments.

How will you provide my feedback?

You will receive both marginal notes & a written critique. Most services also include at least one Virtual Meetup to discuss the feedback.

Are all your meetups done online or could we meet in person?

If you live in the northeast Ohio area & would prefer an in-person meeting, we can arrange one.

What kind of guarantee do you have for your services?

All services are 100% guaranteed. If you are not satisfied with your experience for any reason, please contact us & we will issue a full refund.

Is this service confidential?

Inkling does NOT sell, transfer, or share ANY client information with ANY other party in any way. Our contact forms are on secure servers & all documents reviewed, as well as any feedback Inkling provides, remain the intellectual property of you, the original author.

How do I get started?

Schedule a Virtual Meetup, a 30 minute consultation where we're talking about your writing & figure out what your project needs most. Click here to grab some time on our calendar.

Why Work With Inkling

Real Writer Success Stories

Ready To Get Started?

Kori was exactly what my novel needed, and I am so thankful to God for her. She’s also what I needed, and she came along at just the right time.

—HL Gibson, Author of

Realm—

"Kori's feedback & comments were super helpful in pinpointing areas that could be further developed in our anthology. She always tried to understand each of the author's thoughts. I highly recommend her developmental editing services & will seek her guidance on future projects."

—Kora Sadler, Founder of

The Writer's Group of

Akron, Ohio—

"The genius of Kori's editing is two-fold: she removes her ego from the process in order to support the work for what the work needs, and she has the deepest respect and admiration for writing that I have ever seen.”
